GardenWell 5 day Addiction Aftercare Program for Professionals

This is an invaluable program for those recovering from depression & addiction. The main goal is to introduce a manageable, simple routine that creates healthy habits. The morning usually provides the most intensive part of your day.

  • For professionals in the maintenance phase of recovery.

  • Minimise the opportunities for relapse.

  • Develop new daily habits. Neural pathways and neurons that fire together, wire together making new pathways and establishing new patterns to override old ones.

  • Nurturing small groups of 3-4 clients each session.

  • Due to its intensive 30-40 hr week and 4 participants to 1 facilitator nature this program this is a customised fee for service program.

  • Repeat the program as many times as you wish to reinforce the practices.

Background

  • For the past 30yrs I have and have seen the power of nature and gardening, meditation yoga and counselling in supporting mental health and addiction recovery together with addressing issues of stress, loneliness, depression and addiction. Examples of this are gardening with a client, designing a medical clinic garden or building an award winning meditation garden at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.

  • A large body of evidence based research from around the world now supports this experiential work that I and others have been doing.

  • I will be running the first Recovery Aftercare Program from July 4th 2022.

A Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual Recovery Model

Many things influence the development of and recovery from depression, anxiety, stress and addiction. While we do not yet know how these various influences combine, we do know there are two basic types :

  • One type of influence is biological forces, such a person's genetics.

  • The second type is environmental influences, such as people's early life experiences.

Recovery Program

  • This is a 5 day experiential program where participants practice and learn the skills of gardening, self-inquiry and meditation yoga. Counselling sessions are also considered an integral part of the program.

  • At the end of the program participants will have the opportunity to repeat the program.

After Care Intensive

The intention of the program is to facilitate :

  • Connection with and working alongside others.

  • For individuals who have experienced depression / addiction and are now looking to develop and strengthen their recovery aftercare skills.

  • This is an intensive program and will require participants to be available 5 days per week, 6-8 hrs per day.


Places & Costs

  • Only four places are available for each program.

  • The 5 day program non-residential runs ten times each year.

  • Payment by EFT.

  • $ 2750 inc gst


Suitability

  • Physically able to practice gardening and meditation yoga.

  • Able to take responsibility for themselves and if required, work with others with an attitude of respect and cooperation.

  • Willing to join in the program to the best of their ability.

  • Competent in basic living skills and are able to attend to their own personal care, as support in this area is not provided.

  • Able to share the same space without causing distress or harm to others.

  • Prepared to link in with mental health services and comply with any agreed treatment plans if required and appropriate and able to manage their own medication.

  • The minimum age is 18. Commit to a minimum of 5 days.


Program Daily Outline

  • 8.30-10am Meditation Yoga Program

  • 10-10.30 Light breakfast

  • 11am-3pm Gardening Program

  • 3pm-5pm Counselling, Myotherapy Massage, Exercise Physiology, Meditation Yoga Program
